High School Cafeteria Manager
Title: 9.01 Cafeteria Manager – High School
Reports To: Director of Food Service
Employment Status: Full Time – 7:15 am – 2:45 pm (hours subject to change)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
$17.13 per hour
Qualifications: 1. Valid driver’s license.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in the preparation of school lunches.
- Be clean, neat and over 18 years of age.
- Have the ability to organize and carry out lunchroom procedures.
- Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents and the community.
- Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance.
- Good health, high moral character and good attendance record.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students.
General Description: Manage the overall lunch program of the high school lunchroom and direct the activities of the lunchroom staff. Must have basic computer skills and be able to run computerized of sale system.
Essential Functions:
- Make work schedules for staff.
- Keep complete inventory records.
3. Help with preparation of weekly and monthly food orders.
- Oversee the locking of the storeroom.
- Take pride in personal appearance; keep person clean and keep clothing neat.
6. Help plan menus.
7. Cooperate with the school principal as to time schedule for serving.
8. Supervise the preparation and serving of all foods.
- Supervise the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment; washing and sterilization of dishes, silverware and utensils.
10. Teach staff workers correct procedures for the following:
- Quantity cooking
- Efficient serving
- Sanitation
- Maintenance of Equipment
- Orderly housekeeping
- Prepare food according to a planned menu and tested, uniform recipes. Determine that the finished product is of best quality in both flavor and appearance prior to serving.
- Responsible for immediately reporting problems or accidents occurring in the kitchen or in the cafeteria. Confer with the food service supervisor in regard to personnel problems.
- Check foodstuff/commodity shipments into the school; sign invoices only after verification of each order.
- Prepare breakfast items and serve breakfast.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
2. Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
3. Conduct other duties related to the Cafeteria Manager’s duties as assigned by the food service supervisor.
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
- Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
- Occasional interaction among unruly children.
4. Ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
