Substitute Food Service Workers
Substitute food service workers will fill in for regular food service workers during absences on an as needed basis.
Rate of pay – $13.50 per hour
Qualifications:
1. Valid driver’s license.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in the preparation of school lunches.
- Be clean, neat and over 18 years of age.
- Have the ability to organize and carry out lunchroom procedures.
- Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents and the community.
- Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students.
General Description: Assist with food preparation serving and general clean including dishwashing.
Summary: Prepare and serve nutritious and attractive meals for consumption in the school cafeteria by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve nutritious and attractive meals
- Assist with meal production as directed
- Maintain and apply all safety, sanitation and cleanliness standards and practices in all food service areas as required by federal, state, local and district regulations and policies.
- Operate production equipment and dishwashing equipment
- Receive, stock and inventory food and supplies
- Transport food and supplies and cash bags/boxes when necessary
- Public relations as necessary
- Stock, display and present merchandise
- Assist in coordination of events and activities
- Coordinate meal production in absence of Kitchen Supervisor
- Meet and service the needs of clientele in a timely fashion and in a pleasant and appropriate manner
- Assist in the operation of facilities as directed by Director and/or Supervisor
- Other duties as assigned by Director and/or designee
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
- Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
- Conduct other duties related to the cook’s duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager and/or food service supervisor.
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
- Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
- Occasional interaction among unruly children.
- Ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.

Reports To: Cafeteria Manager, Child Nutrition Director
Hours: 5 hours per day – 188 days per school year, 09:45 am – 2:45 pm (hours subject to change)
Hourly rate – $14.26 per hour

- Receive, stock and inventory food and supplies
- Transport food and supplies and cash bags/boxes when necessary
- Compile and maintain appropriate records for federal, state and local regulations and reports
- Public relations as necessary
- Coordination and implementation for sales promotions
- Understand and determine qualified meals and qualified components of meals
- Monitor reimbursable meal qualification at point of service
- Stock, display and present merchandise
- Assist in coordination of events and activities
- Assist in operation of facilities and directed by Director and/or Supervisor
- Coordinate meal production in absence of Kitchen Supervisor
- Meet and service the needs of clientele in a timely fashion and in a pleasant and appropriate manner
